Peak Color Arrives
September 28, 2010
Every day on my way to work, I notice more orange, red and yellow popping up along the hillsides of Vermont. It started as a gradual change, but now the landscape is quickly turning vibrant and bright.Across most of the state, fall foliage is in full swing. In some places, the color is at its height. Peak fall color is starting to appear in the Northeast Kingdom and across the higher elevations, including parts of the Green Mountains.
It feels like the leaves turned quite suddenly over the past week. But when I look at the calendar and see that Friday is October 1st, I realize that fall foliage is pretty much right on schedule.

The leaves have been turning quite rapidly in New York as well… it’s looking beautiful as ever! ♥

Put it on hold, don’t let it disappear, I’ll be there in two weeks:)

The Peak Color Arrives post arrived in my email box just in time to turn the corner from a horrendous high-stress day into one of imagining the lovely Vermont countryside. Thanks for the therapy.

It’s amazing how many different reds, yellows and greens there are! I love this season, but it’s just too short. Nice picture – captures the season well.

Only a few more weeks and the midwest will be in the same boat. I can’t wait, fall rules!

Hi Erin — Don’t you love it? Looks beautiful out there.
She — There will be plenty of foliage to see when you visit. Don’t worry!
Hi David — You are most welcome. Glad to help!
Hi Steve — Those are the best days, aren’t they?
Hi Hilke — Southern Vermont looks really beautiful right now. The colors in Peru last weekend were incredible.
Hotel Chicago — You are right – it does rule!
