Outdoor Vermont farmers markets are a seasonal tradition.
From Burlington to Brattleboro and Craftsbury to Northfield, town greens, local parks and parking lots turn into festive pop-up markets packed with local produce, handmade goods, craft beer, grass-fed beef and more.

When Vermont’s outdoor farmers markets began in the 1970s, you could find them in just a few communities, including Montpelier, Brandon, Brattleboro and Norwich.
Today, about 70 farmers markets can be found across the state, offering everything from pasture-raised poultry to hand-crafted jewelry.

Proctorsville on Fridays
You’ll find berries, honey, herbs, bread, handmade goods and more at the Market on the Green in Proctorville, a farmers market that kicks off June 6 and runs through mid-October. The Proctorsville market is every Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visit proctorsvillemarket.com for details.
Northfield on Tuesdays
The Northfield Farmers Market opens for the 2025 season on May 20. Stop by Depot Square between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. every Tuesday for local produce, meat, baked goods, fresh cut flowers, jellies, pickles, eggs, artisan crafts and more. You’ll also enjoy live music as part of the Good Measure Music Series. Visit northfieldfm.eatfromfarms.com for more information.
Champlain Islands on Saturdays and Wednesdays
The Champlain Islands Farmers Market in Grand Isle and South Hero showcases vegetables, meats, baked goods, fresh fruits, wine, spirits, hand-crafted items, wood working displays, pies and more.
Now open for the season, the market is at Saint Joseph’s Church in Grand Isle on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Wednesdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Saint Rose of Lima Church in South Hero. Visit champlainislandsfarmersmarket.org.
Vershire on Sundays
The Vershire Artisan & Farmers Market starts June 1 and is every Sunday from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Now in its second year, the market sells local food, Jamaican cuisine, jewelry, fiber arts, plants and more.
The market, which runs through Sept. 7, is at the Vershire Town Center, located at 27 Vershire Center Road. Visit vershiremarket.org for details.

Montpelier on Saturdays
The Capital City Farmers Market in Montpelier has been bringing local producers and customers together since 1977. A variety of vendors sell local meat, vegetables, jewelry, flowers and more.
The market is open for the 2025 season and runs on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 133 State Street. Visit capitalcityfarmersmarket.com.
Norwich on Saturdays
The Norwich Farmers Market features more than 50 vendors from four neighboring counties in Vermont and New Hampshire. The market, which started in 1977, showcases agricultural products, prepared foods and handmade crafts, along with live music.
The outdoor market is open for the season and held every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 281 Route 5 South (1 mile south of King Arthur Flour) in Norwich. Visit norwichfarmersmarket.org.
Bristol on Mondays
The Bristol Farmers Market starts June 2 on the town green. On Mondays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., grab food for dinner, browse goods from local growers and creators, and enjoy live music.

Craftsbury on Saturdays
The Craftsbury Farmers Market is open for the season and offers everything from organic vegetables to hand-crafted baskets. Free family-friendly entertainment and special events throughout the season set the stage for a fun experience for all.
The market is held Saturdays on the Craftsbury Common from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visit craftsburyfarmersmarket.com.
Brown’s Orchard & Farmstand at the Rutland Downtown Farmers Market.
Rutland on Saturdays
The Rutland Downtown Farmers Market includes meat, maple syrup, flowers, cheese, baked goods, handmade soaps and more. The market is open for the 2025 season and runs every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Depot Park (the Wal-Mart parking lot) in Rutland. Visit vtfarmersmarket.org/markets/summer.
Londonderry on Saturdays
The West River Farmers Market opens May 24 for the 2025 season. A favorite among locals in southern Vermont since 1994, the market sells a variety of produce, meat, cheeses, crafts, jewelry, honey and more.
Shop from more than 40 vendors on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market is located next to the junction of Routes 11 and 100 in Londonderry. Visit westriverfarmersmarket.com.
Waitsfield on Saturdays
Every Saturday, the Mad River Green is filled with dozens of vendors for the Waitsfield Farmers Market. Visitors can find produce, plants, meats, cheese and more.
The 2025 market is open for the season and runs every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the green, located off Route 100 in Waitsfield. Visit waitsfieldfarmersmarket.com.
Brandon on Fridays
Shop for produce, meats, cheeses and specialty foods at the Brandon Farmers Market. You’ll also find handcrafted jewelry, quilts, pottery and handcrafted spoons.
The market opens for the season on June 6 and is held on Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Located at Central Park on Conant Square in Brandon. Visit brandonfarmersmarketvt.com.

St. Albans on Saturdays
The Northwest Farmers Market in St. Albans is open for the season with local produce, food trucks, artisan crafters, live music and more.
The market runs on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Oct. 25 at Taylor Park, 36 North Main St. in St. Albans. Visit northwestfarmersmarket.org.
Ludlow on Sundays
The Ludlow Farmers Market, which kicks off May 25, showcases everything from fresh produce to local cheeses to handcrafted beverages.
The market is held every Sunday through Oct. 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Depot Street in Ludlow. Visit ludlowmarket.org.
Brattleboro on Saturdays
The Brattleboro Area Farmers Market, celebrating its 50th year in 2025, features plenty of Vermont flavor with fresh veggies, meat, eggs, baked goods, prepared foods and handcrafted jewelry.
The market is open for the 2025 season and runs Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 570 Western Ave. in Brattleboro. Visit brattleboroareafarmersmarket.com.

Dorset on Sundays
The Dorset Farmers’ Market is where you’ll find baked goods, organic vegetables, meats, cheeses, hemp, bread, dog treats and specialty food items.
Starting May 25, stop by on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The market is located next to the H.N. Williams Store on Route 30. Visit dorsetfarmersmarket.com.
Burlington on Saturdays
The Burlington Farmers Market, now open for the season, started in 1980 and has been a fixture ever since. The Burlington Farmers Market offers seasonal produce, pottery, paintings, prepared foods, flowers and more.
Stop by every Saturday now through October between 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 345 Pine Street. Visit burlingtonfarmersmarket.org.

It’s open every Thursday (rain or shine) from May 23 to October 3, 3-6 p.m. in Adams Park, 5101 Main Street (7A). Every time I visit, it feels like the essence of Vermont … friendly, unique producer-only vendors, great live music, terrific kids’ programs starting in June and tons of free samples.
