16 Outdoor Vermont Farmers Markets to Visit in 2026

Outdoor Vermont farmers markets are a seasonal tradition.
From Burlington to Brattleboro and Craftsbury to Dorset, Vermont’s town greens, local parks and parking lots turn into festive pop-up markets packed with local produce, handmade goods, craft beer, grass-fed beef and more.

When Vermont’s outdoor farmers markets began in the 1970s, you could find them in just a few communities, including Montpelier, Brandon, Brattleboro and Norwich.
Today, about 70 farmers markets can be found across the state, offering everything from pasture-raised poultry to hand-crafted jewelry.

Bristol on Mondays
The Bristol Farmers Market starts June 1, 2026 on the town green. Every Monday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., browse goods from local growers and creators, enjoy live music, or pick up food for dinner.

Northfield on Tuesdays
The Northfield Farmers Market returns May 19 and runs Tuesdays, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Depot Square in downtown Northfield. Shop from local farmers, bakers, and artisans offering fresh foods, crafts, and Vermont products. Visit facebook.com/NorthfieldFarmersMarket
Champlain Islands on Wednesdays and Saturdays
The Champlain Islands Farmers Market in Grand Isle and South Hero showcases vegetables, meats, baked goods, fresh fruits, wine, spirits, hand-crafted items, wood working displays, pies and more.
Opening for the 2026 season on May 16, the market is at Saint Joseph’s Church in Grand Isle on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Wednesdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Saint Rose of Lima Church in South Hero. Visit champlainislandsfarmersmarket.org.
Chelsea on Fridays
The Chelsea Farmers Market opens for the 2026 season on Friday, May 22, at the North Common. Visit Fridays from 3 to 6 p.m. to shop from over 15 local vendors selling produce, maple syrup, baked goods, flowers, crafts, prepared foods, meats, and more. Montpelier on Saturdays
The Capital City Farmers Market in Montpelier has been bringing local producers and customers together since 1977. A variety of vendors sell local meat, vegetables, jewelry, flowers and more.
The market is open for the 2026 season and runs on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 133 State Street. Visit capitalcityfarmersmarket.com.
Norwich on Saturdays
The Norwich Farmers Market features more than 50 vendors from four neighboring counties in Vermont and New Hampshire. The market, which started in 1977, showcases agricultural products, prepared foods and handmade crafts, along with live music.
The outdoor market is open for the 2026 season and held every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 281 Route 5 South (1 mile south of King Arthur Flour) in Norwich. Visit norwichfarmersmarket.org.
Shelburne on Saturdays
The Shelburne Farmers Market returns for the 2026 season on May 16, bringing together local farmers, food producers, artisans, and community organizations on the Shelburne Parade Grounds and Village Green. Running every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the market offers a vibrant gathering place where visitors can shop for fresh produce, baked goods, maple products, flowers, handmade crafts, prepared foods, and more. Craftsbury on Saturdays
The Craftsbury Farmers Market opens for 2026 the season on May 23. The market offers everything from organic vegetables to hand-crafted baskets. Free family-friendly entertainment and special events throughout the season set the stage for a fun experience for all.

Rutland on Saturdays
The Rutland Downtown Farmers Market includes meat, maple syrup, flowers, cheese, baked goods, handmade soaps and more. The market is open for the 2026 season and runs every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Depot Park (the Wal-Mart parking lot) in Rutland. Visit vtfarmersmarket.org/markets/summer.
Londonderry on Saturdays
The West River Farmers Market opens May 23 for the 2026 season. A favorite among locals in southern Vermont since 1994, the market sells a variety of produce, meat, cheeses, crafts, jewelry, honey and more.
Shop from more than 40 vendors on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market is located next to the junction of Routes 11 and 100 in Londonderry. Visit westriverfarmersmarket.com.
Waitsfield on Saturdays
Every Saturday, the Mad River Green is filled with dozens of vendors for the Waitsfield Farmers Market. Visitors can find produce, plants, meats, cheese and more.
The 2026 market opens May 16 for the season and runs every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the green, located off Route 100 in Waitsfield. Visit waitsfieldfarmersmarket.com.

St. Albans on Saturdays
The Northwest Farmers Market in St. Albans opens May 16 for the 2026 season with local produce, food trucks, artisan crafters, live music and more.
The market runs on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Taylor Park, 36 North Main St. in St. Albans. Visit northwestfarmersmarket.org.
Ludlow on Sundays
The Ludlow Farmers Market, which kicks off May 24, for its third season, showcasing everything from fresh produce to local cheeses to handcrafted beverages.
The market is held every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Depot Street in Ludlow. Visit ludlowmarket.org.
Brattleboro on Saturdays
The Brattleboro Area Farmers Market features plenty of Vermont flavor with fresh veggies, meat, eggs, baked goods, prepared foods and handcrafted jewelry.

The Burlington Farmers Market, now open for the season, started in 1980 and has been a fixture ever since. The Burlington Farmers Market offers seasonal produce, pottery, paintings, prepared foods, flowers and more.

Dorset on Sundays
The Dorset Farmers’ Market is where you’ll find baked goods, organic vegetables, meats, cheeses, hemp, bread, dog treats and specialty food items.
The market is open for the season, so stop by on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The market is located next to the H.N. Williams Store on Route 30. Visit dorsetfarmersmarket.com.

It’s open every Thursday (rain or shine) from May 23 to October 3, 3-6 p.m. in Adams Park, 5101 Main Street (7A). Every time I visit, it feels like the essence of Vermont … friendly, unique producer-only vendors, great live music, terrific kids’ programs starting in June and tons of free samples.
