Happy Vermonters: Woodworker Matt Ogelby Finds Inspiration in the Mountains

“I found out early on that I was happiest in the mountains and in the woods. I feel lucky that I was able to recognize that part of myself because it helped me figure out that I wanted to go to UVM and raise my family here. Vermont is also where I started woodworking a few years ago. I fell in love with woodworking immediately and something about it just felt right. When I’m in the woods hiking or snowboarding, trees are my inspiration because they are strong, they endure, and they survive. When I’m back in the shop cutting a piece of wood, there’s a real energy there, and I definitely feel that same strong connection.”
