Bridgewater Raft Race

The 50th Annual Bridgewater Raft Race is a time-honored tradition that is less about the competition and more about reveling in the journey.

In April 1974, two guys named Hippy Jim and William Bear took to the river on homemade rafts to honor the phantom ducks of the river. The next year, they started offering prizes for the winners, and the event has been going ever since for 50 years.
The race spans three miles of the Ottauquechee River from a home near the Long Trail Brewery in Bridgewater Corners and ending at the Bridgewater Mill.
All rafts must be homemade and self-propelled. Life Jackets are encouraged. Raft at your own risk.
No dogs, no alcohol.
