Start the new year on the right foot with a hike in the great outdoors. On January 1, everyone is once again invited to join a free, guided, family-friendly hike taking place at many state parks, state forests, and other public lands across Vermont. Hikes are led by professional guides and outdoor educators eager to share their knowledge and love of Vermont’s outdoors.
This moderately challenging trail loops through the fields and forests for 1.5 miles. Add on a half a mile to visit the glacial erratic with a view overlooking Lake Willoughby and beyond. If there happens to be more than six inches of snow, snowshoes will be needed. If the trail is packed, micro spikes should be carried to be on hand if needed.
