First Day Hike: Slate Valley Trails in Poultney

Start the new year on the right foot with a hike in the great outdoors. On January 1, everyone is once again invited to join a free, guided, family-friendly hike taking place at many state parks, state forests, and other public lands across Vermont. Hikes are led by professional guides and outdoor educators eager to share their knowledge and love of Vermont’s outdoors.
Enjoy an easy to moderate five-mile hike on Slate Valley Trails. Meet at Fairgrounds trailhead parking lot and start 2023 off with a hike on the trails in Fairgrounds west. Hike will go to Big Top and return via Scrambler and Ringmaster. Bring snacks/lunch, water and dress for the weather, including microspikes or snowshoes, depending on the ground conditions.
