New Exhibit Celebrates 70 Years of Dan & Whit’s in Norwich

As the saying goes at Dan & Whit’s in Norwich, “If we don’t have it, you don’t need it.”

The general store turns 70 this year, and the Norwich Historical Society is marking the occasion with an exhibit featuring documentary photographs, oral histories, and memorabilia. The exhibit’s opening celebration is Friday, August 22 from 4-6 p.m.

It also traces nearly 200 years of general store history on the site, dating back to the construction of the very first store in 1829. The exhibit, on display at the Norwich Historical Society, runs through December 31.

The exhibit will display Kay McCabe’s photographs that capture the spirit of Dan & Whit’s and its place in the community.
