Newbury Historical Society Maple Sugar Open House
March 29, 2025 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Don’t miss the Newbury Historical Society’s third annual Maple Sugar Open House.
Learn about the sweet tradition of maple sugaring—a practice perfected by Native Americans centuries ago.
This free event will be at John and Hannah Narowski’s sugarhouse.
John and Hannah have been boiling sap and making maple syrup on Bowen Road for 35 years, running a certified organic sugaring operation. Watch a live boiling demonstration, tour their unique operation, and discover what makes this local business—and their syrup—so special.
While parking is limited at the sugarhouse, feel free to park along the road as Bowen Road is lightly traveled. Traffic cones will be out to alert drivers to slow down for pedestrians.
Note that the sugarhouse isn’t handicapped accessible, and while there’s no official bathroom, an outhouse is available.
