Vermont’s Only Witch Trial – New England Legends in Bennington

Learn about Vermont’s only witch trial. In the 1780s, the widow Margaret Krieger became the only person to be tried for witchcraft in Vermont.

Her trial took place in the Southern Vermont town of Pownal and is documented in this soon-to-be-released episode of New England Legends, produced and directed by Tony Dunne.

He will share the short film and the story of Widow Krieger. You’ll also hear from Joyce Held of the Pownal Historical Society and Jamie Franklin of Bennington Museum.
